Official says Russia sees progress in food exemption from sanctions

ISTANBUL, Dec 12 (PRIME) -- Russia is progressing in exemption of its food exports from sanctions, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said on Monday.

"Some progress took place in the end, after our efforts and help from the World Food Program (WFP),” he said.

“But it envisages unblocking and withdrawal of arrest on the volume of Russian food mentioned earlier. It is mostly located in Latvia."

He also said that Moscow has already got in touch with the African Union and some African states about free delivery of fertilizers. Russia pledges to pay for transportation, he said.
